Organizing and sharing final video files with board, marketing volunteers or production team

Set Construction Ashe County Little Theatre - Construct scenery using wood, hardware and other materials.  Assist with measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing scenic elements.  Prepare surfaces for painting.  Paint scenery using a variety of techniques.  Safely use tools, ladders and shop equipment.  Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.  Follow directions and safety policies and procedures.  

Time Committment:  Scheduled Saturday set builds 10 to 12 weeks prior to the production; approximately 3 - 4 hours in length.

Helpful Skills:  Interest in hands-on creative and technical work; ability to follow directions and work as a team; willingness to learn basic carpentry and scenic painting techniqus, attention to detail and commitment to safety; ability to lift moderate weight and stand for extended periods (with accommodations) as needed.

What You'll Gain:  Carpentry basics (measuring, framing, cutting, assembling); safe use of tools (power tools, ladders, hardware); painting techniques and scenic finishes; problem-solving under deadlines, working in a team-oriented environment.

Digital Outreach - Ashe County Little Theatre - Share production announcements on Facebook, Instagram and other online groups.  Engage with social media posts by liking, commenting, and responding to questions. Post about production in community forums, theatre related Facebook groups, etc. Use event specific hashtags to help spread the word about the production, encourage friends and followrs to attend the production. Assist with creating and scheduling social media posts (graphics, videos, captions).  

Time Committment:  About  1 hour per day for 12 weeks (flexible and remote)

Helpful Skills: Comfortable using social media platforms (Faebooks, Instagram, etc.); Friendly and professional online communication skills; interest in theatre and community events.

Photograher for Ashe County Little Theatre Productions. Take photos during rehearsals (rehearsal shots, candid moments, select staged images).  Photograph cast and crew headshots.  Capture behind-the-scenes moments that highlight the collaborative spirit of the theatre before and during the production, take photos for volunteer recognition and shout-outs on Facebook.  Share edited photos with the theatre in a timely manner for marketing, archival and promotional use.

We will be needing tasty tidbits for this reception.  A Valentines Day theme would be nice as this is scheduled for the day before Valentines Day. 

We need two additional drivers to go onto a rotational schedule and/or be a back-up driver. The responsibilities include picking up food from Food Lion and Second Harvest deliveries. Will need to be able to lift up to 50lbs, have a good driving record, and be comfortable driving a van. Wednesdays from about 10-12 (back-up drivers would be as needed Monday- Friday 10-12).  Training is provided for the process by current volunteer drivers. The Wednesday position requires a one-hour Zoom meeting by Second Harvest to become certified.

This volunteer position picks out and bags frozen and refrigerated food as well as bags/boxes shelf stable groceries for clients during their appointments. Training is provided on-site. This position has a lot of interaction with the clients so needs to be someone friendly and comfortable working with the public.

Multiple shifts needed

Wednesday: Afternoon from 1-3 

Fridays: 9-3 (preferred shift) but the position can be split into  morning (9-12) and afternoon (1-3) if unable to commit the whole day

Ashe Harvest Ministries is in need of some volunteers to help our customers who come into the pantry to shop and guide them through the process of how to and what to get for a healthy meal. With feeding and caring for animals, there is a ton of items (bowls, litter pans, toys) that require regular and daily washing. 

Clean up of the outdoor space, to include scooping poop, pulling weeds, etc.

These volunteers provide an effective support system with other AMOREM team members, enabling the patient's family to provide needed care at home. Volunteers visit, as requested, to meet the needs of the patient/family. 

Volunteers are recommended by their ministers to act as liaisons between AMOREM and the faith community. 

Volunteers are scheduled to work during a specific block of time each week, to help greet families, and guest. Volunteers provide support to the patient/families to minimize any stress or discomfort from being away from home. 

Currently licensed hairdressers provide haircuts for patients in their homes, at Patient Care unit, or in long-term care facility at no cost. 

Office Volunteers provide assistance to the administrative staff by typing, making copies, and filing. Schedules are arranged according to the volunteer's convenience and office needs. 

Volunteers who are veteran of the Armed Services are specially trained to complete a presentation in honor of patients who are veterans. 

Volunteers and their certified therapy animals make supportive visits to patients in the Patient Care Unit. 

We welcome volunteers to share their time, talents, hobbies and skills with our residents every single day! We are looking for people who think that age is just a number. We need volunteers to help with activities such as playing an instrument, dancing, singing, doing yoga or even just sitting and talking to reminisce with the wonderful people that call Generations home.

Volunteers are needed to help the senior center staff in planning and coordinating special events such as parties, fundraisers, health fairs, etc.  Volunteers will help at the event with setting up, preparing food, and clean up.  Volunteers are needed a month in advance and will be provided with details of tasks prior to the special event.  

WYN’s Ashe County mentoring program helps youth between the ages of 6 and 17 who need a little extra support and guidance. We do this by connecting them with a volunteer mentor in the community who is willing to hang out with them and be their role model and cheerleader. We can all remember a person in our lives whose kindness and wisdom made us who we are today. Consider becoming that hero for a young person in your community.

We encourage devoting at least 8 hours a month for at least one year once matched with your mentee. These hours can be spent at the park, getting ice cream, doing homework, or any other positive activities you and your mentee might like to do.

Volunteers will learn to use all exercise equipment and be present in the exercise room to assist patrons with using equipment as needed.  There is an immediate need for this position. 

Volunteers will set up for training through the IRS beginning in January through online trainings and testing.  Once completed, volunteer will prepare taxes 2 days a week during the tax season beginning in February and ending in April.

Volunteers will provide leadership in teaching classes, seminars, presentations, computer classes, along with health and wellness classes.

Volunteers will train with the NC Department of Insurance, will counsel Medicare beneficiaries with options and attend quarterly trainings.  Training for this program requires online module trainings at your own pace and approval by the NC Department of Insurance.  This program runs throughout the year, a couple days a week, with more need during the Medicare Open Enrollment period of October 15th through December 7th. 

Volunteers needed to greet patrons, answer and direct phone calls to appropriate programs within Generations Ashe, provide tours of the senior center, and help visitors gain membership.  Volunteers are needed from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.  Other hours may be needed depending upon schedule changes.  This position is an immediate need.  

Volunteers needed to deliver meals to our homebound clients Monday through Friday.  You can sign up for one day or as many as you would like.  Training will be provided.  

Assisting clients with how to use the exercise machines, staying hydrated and proper safety techniques.
